Sports Immersion Program
Program Curriculum
The Sports College SA approach is forward-thinking, highly customised and aims to ‘change the game’ of student learning and achievement. Planned and developed with industry experts, our visionary approach purposefully connects the learning experiences of our young people to the types of activities and projects that are typically undertaken in a sport and recreation or sport-business environment.
Sports College SA takes the traditional SACE and VET curriculum, and shapes it to ensure that the authentic experiences we provide are highly-customised, engaging and provide an exemplary and enjoyable student learning experience.

Sports Immersion Program
Sports College SA students achieve their SACE by studying Stage 1 and 2 subjects through an innovative Project-Based Learning (PBL) approach, which provides authentic learning experiences immersed in the sports industry. This hands-on approach encourages students to engage deeply with real-world opportunities, develop critical thinking skills, and collaborate on projects that have direct connections to sports and related fields.
VET Qualifications
In Year 12, students undertake VET qualifications in sports coaching, giving them the chance to gain authentic experience across various industry areas. With the sporting world at their fingertips, students develop a well-rounded skill set that prepares them for real-world opportunities. Throughout this journey, our team is dedicated to supporting each student’s growth and success, providing guidance, resources, and encouragement every step of the way – all we ask is that they show up, engage, and give it their best!

SCSA Curriculum
The Coach
The Coach project offers students a unique opportunity to step into the role of an Assistant Coach within an elite sports environment.
This innovative program is designed to foster transdisciplinary learning and capabilities development through authentic coaching experiences, where students’ engagement and natural evidence of learning contribute to their final assessment. Spanning four critical phases (Coach Development, Pre-Season, In-Season Coaching, and End of Season Review), participants are challenged to demonstrate their expertise in areas like sports psychology, performance analysis, and strength and conditioning. The project culminates with students presenting their coaching strategies and successes, competing for the esteemed position of Head Coach.

The Athlete
The Athlete program is a comprehensive three-phase initiative designed to harness the potential of aspiring sports professionals.
It begins with the Draft Combine, where participants undergo fitness assessments and develop profiles highlighting their strengths and weaknesses. The journey continues with Next Generation All-Stars, focusing on team development and performance enhancement, culminating in the Recruitment phase, where students craft dynamic resumes and pitch to industry professionals. This immersive experience not only hones athletic prowess but also integrates educational disciplines, providing a holistic approach to sports career development.
The Apprentice
At Sports College SA, students engage in The Apprentice and Structured Work Learning (SWL) placements, gaining hands-on experience in real-world workplace settings.
This unique program offers students the chance to explore various career pathways, acquire valuable transferable skills sought after by employers, and work at prominent sports and recreational events. Through these experiences, students not only contribute meaningfully through volunteering but also build a robust resume and network with industry professionals. With dedicated guidance and support from our learning staff, students are well-equipped to leverage these opportunities as a foundation for their future career journeys.
Healthy Living
At Sports College SA, students embark on a transformative journey through the Healthy Living project to enhance their physical and mental wellbeing.
This student-focused initiative delves into nutrition, sleep, exercise, and personal safety, equipping them with lifelong self-care skills. In a two-phase approach, students assume the role of Nutrition Coaches, analysing dietary impacts on athletic performance and creating bespoke nutrition plans. They critically evaluate diet trends for athletes and apply mathematical reasoning to optimise energy utilisation, preparing them to guide peers towards achieving their health and fitness goals.
The Power of Sport
At Sports College SA, students embark on a transformative journey through the Power of Sport project, where they engage with sporting partners and community groups to spearhead initiatives that transcend barriers and foster unity.
This project empowers students to leverage sport as a catalyst for social impact, enhancing life skills, problem-solving, and teamwork. They explore strategies to boost adolescent participation in sports, leading to sustained enjoyment and personal growth. By exploring modified sports through practical involvement, students gain insights into optimising health for peak performance, shaping a healthier, more connected sporting community.
The Great Outdoors
At Sports College SA, students are invited to embrace the great outdoors and lead change through active engagement and innovation.
As Active Lifestyles Consultants, they have the unique opportunity to create promotional materials that highlight the benefits of outdoor activities, while also planning sustainable enhancements to local nature spots. Collaboration is key; students are encouraged to explore, reflect, and support each other in crafting a vision for recreational spaces that balance fun with the natural environment. Additionally, students can channel their passion and ambition into leadership roles, organising events that extend learning beyond the classroom and into the community.

“I have really enjoyed my time at SCSA. I have made strong connections with my classmates, making me much more enthusiastic about being at school. I chose to do an ATAR pathway. It has been challenging but I have worked hard to make sure my efforts have paid off. My SWL consisted of working with SACA and working at Seymour to assist in PE teaching. Doing this has made my career options widen as I am trying new things!”
