Celebrating the Spirit of Sports College Award

, written by

At Sports College, success isn’t just measured in medals or scores, it’s about the energy, leadership and kindness our students bring to every corner of College life. Last week, during graduation, we were thrilled to celebrate the recipient of the Spirit of Sports College Award, recognising a student who embodies these qualities and inspires everyone around them.

The Spirit of Sports College Award is our most prestigious accolade, voted for by both peers and staff. It honours a student who brings positivity to every space they enter, volunteers generously, contributes meaningfully to events and community initiatives, creates a welcoming and inclusive environment, leads with empathy, demonstrates personal drive and above all, inspires others through their actions and attitude.

This year, we received many thoughtful nominations, reflecting the incredible talent and heart within our student body. From these, three finalists were recognised for their all-round excellence: Tacuabe Milans, Hannah Boehm and Skyla Lampard. Each finalist consistently went above and beyond, actively contributing to events, clinics, and initiatives, leading with empathy and inspiring their peers every day. Their dedication to our College values made a meaningful impact on both their classes and the broader Sports College community.

We are delighted to announce that Skyla Lampard, a scholarship student from the Basketball St Clair class, was awarded the Spirit of Sports College Award at graduation. Skyla has consistently embraced every opportunity to contribute, whether volunteering at events, helping out at clinics, or supporting her peers. She has been a Mental Health and Wellbeing champion, a friendly and approachable presence for both students and staff, and someone who embodies the very spirit of our College community. Her energy, leadership and heart shone brightly, exemplifying the attitude and actions that make Sports College such a special place to learn, grow and connect.

Congratulations to Skyla and to all our finalists for setting an incredible example, proving that true excellence is about more than what you achieve, it’s about how you inspire those around you every day.
