Mhatika’s Mark

, written by

We are proud to feature a meaningful Aboriginal artwork on our SEDA Cup tops, created by Mhatika Wilton, a talented young Adnyamathanha and Narangga woman, and former student of the netball program.

Mhatika crafted this piece in 2023 as part of the SACE Board’s Recognition of Cultural Learning pilot. Her artwork is a powerful representation of the college and its vibrant sporting community

At the heart of the design, the central circle symbolises the college. The surrounding ‘U’ shapes represent the staff and students who shape our school. Five smaller circles stand for our five sporting programs: netball, cricket, soccer, football, and basketball. At the base, seven hills symbolise the seven positions on a netball court, honouring Mhatika’s journey through the netball program.

This artwork tells a story of unity, sport, and cultural pride, seen through Mhatika’s lens as an Aboriginal artist and college alumna.
