The Adelaide Lightning and Sports College SA are excited to announce a new partnership that expands opportunities for young women in sport and celebrates the influence of strong female role models.
The collaboration will give SCSA students – particularly girls pursuing basketball and broader sporting pathways – meaningful access to Adelaide Lightning athletes, coaches, and professional staff. By connecting students with inspiring women who have carved out their own journeys in elite sport, the partnership strengthens a learning environment where young people feel supported, seen, and encouraged to reach their potential.
Students will gain hands-on experience across athlete development, high-performance operations, sports media, marketing, and community engagement. These experiences bridge classroom learning with real-world sport, allowing girls to explore future possibilities in environments that are both authentic and empowering.
“Sports College South Australia plays a vital role in developing young athletes, and we’re proud to partner with an organisation that shares our commitment to opportunity, education and high performance. This partnership creates meaningful pathways for students to connect with elite sport and see what’s possible”
Sports College SA Principal, Matthew Daly, said the new partnership reflects the College’s commitment to creating pathways that feel connected, meaningful, and genuinely transformative for young women.
“Working alongside the Adelaide Lightning gives our girls the chance to learn from women who lead with strength, purpose, and passion,” Daly said.
“They’ll see firsthand what it looks like to pursue big goals while staying true to who they are. This partnership opens doors to real opportunities—whether they’re interested in playing, leading, or contributing to the sports industry in new and exciting ways.”
Through volunteer opportunities, work placements, community program involvement, and exposure to WNBL gameday environments, students will benefit from experiences that extend far beyond the court and help shape confident, capable young people.
