At Sports College SA, support isn’t something students have to search for; it’s already around them.
Our Student Performance and Wellbeing (SPW) team is embedded within each learning venue, working alongside teachers, mentors, and students every day. This proximity matters. It removes barriers, builds trust, and makes support feel normal, accessible, and part of the everyday environment.
The result? Students know exactly where to go when they need help.
In fact, 94% of students say they understand how to reach out to a counsellor or mental performance coach at their venue. That confidence comes from consistent visibility, relationship-building, and a culture that encourages seeking support.
Just as importantly, 88% of students say they find it beneficial to have the SPW team working alongside them in their venue. That daily presence means support is not only available, but relevant and timely – whether a student needs help managing stress, navigating challenges, building confidence, or improving their performance in sport and learning. This impact is reflected more broadly, with 87% of students also agreeing that their wellbeing has improved since coming to Sports College SA, reinforcing that this embedded model is genuinely making a difference.
Rather than operating as a separate service, the SPW team is part of the fabric of each venue. Conversations happen early. Students are more likely to engage because the people supporting them are already familiar, trusted, and present.
Our bespoke program Beyond the Game further strengthens this approach, giving students structured opportunities to build skills in resilience, mental performance, and overall wellbeing while also creating additional pathways for students to check in and seek support when they need it.
When support is visible, accessible, and embedded, students respond differently. They’re more willing to ask for help. They feel more confident doing so, and they’re better equipped to manage both the demands of school and sport.
At Sports College SA, it’s not just about having support available. It’s about making sure every student knows how to access it and feels comfortable doing so.
