Future Fridays: Our Alumni Journeys

We proudly celebrate the journey of 2023 SCSA Football Graduate, Safiya.

A proud member of the Hallett Cove Football (Soccer) program, Safiya graduated from SCSA in 2023 and has since taken her passion overseas. She is currently living in the United States, where she is studying at a junior college and continuing to chase her dreams on the soccer field. When she’s not on the pitch or in class, Safiya is making the most of her time abroad by travelling around the US during holiday breaks.

Safiya credits much of her current success to the practical, hands-on learning experiences she had at SCSA.

“SCSA helped shape where I am today because we learnt a lot of things in a practical experience. I learnt so much about perseverance, even during difficult times.”

Now studying and competing internationally, Safiya continues to carry the resilience and real-world mindset she developed through SCSA into every aspect of her life.

Her advice to current students is full of reflection and encouragement:

“Enjoy school and enjoy learning! I look back now and wish I had paid more attention—so much of what we learnt is actually useful in everyday life.

I think sometimes we take getting an education for granted, so I’d say enjoy learning, and enjoy all the extra activities you get to do on the side—camp, clinics, sports days, cluster days. They’re some of my favourite memories now.”

Safiya’s story is a powerful reminder of the opportunities that can open up with the right mindset, support, and experiences. We’re incredibly proud of her and look forward to seeing where her journey takes her next.
