Friday, 20th March, we made our way up bright and early to Rostrevor College to compete in round 2 of the Boys Statewide Knockout Cricket Competition. After winning the toss and electing to bowl, Eli and Fletcher got us off to a brilliant start bowling very tight and building pressure. Rostrevor responded well, finding ways to score and put the pressure back on us. Victor found the breakthrough wicket to slow momentum down and we capitalised from there. Both Eli and Fletcher returned for a second spell and struck, Eli with three wickets and Fletcher with two. Rueben caught two balls behind the stumps and we reduced Rostrevor to 143 after 32 overs. 

In reply we lost wickets quickly, finding ourselves 4-30. Eli and Jamie both stayed calm and collected putting on a strong partnership getting us in a position to win the game. Unfortunately, we fell short and couldn’t quite get over the line, Eli top scoring with 39.  

Lots of positives were taken away from our game; we competed till the very end against a very strong cricketing school, were competitive, played with sportsmanship, had fun and managed to hold a spot in division 1 for next year’s competition. 

A massive thank you to both Fletcher, Rueben and Cody for helping in our campaign, as well as Cam and Bailey for coaching and making this all possible. And Lastly Rostrevor for a fantastic game and hosting us.
