Student Spotlight: Elodie de Wit

, written by

Elodie is a dedicated student at our Cricket venue and an outstanding example of embracing every opportunity with determination, enthusiasm, and a willingness to grow. Through her commitment to learning, passion for sport and genuine desire to support those around her, Elodie continues to make a positive impact both inside and outside the classroom.

Throughout her time at SCSA, Elodie has demonstrated a strong commitment to her learning, consistently setting high standards for herself and approaching every challenge with a positive attitude and strong work ethic. Currently working towards achieving an ATAR, she is dedicated to her academic studies while actively contributing to the wider school community.

Elodie’s enthusiasm for learning extends beyond her own achievements. She consistently leads by example, encourages her peers, and helps create a supportive, positive classroom environment. Her initiative and willingness to help others make her a valued member of our school community.

Beyond the classroom, Elodie is a talented and dedicated athlete with a passion for distance running and AFL. She continually challenges herself to improve, setting ambitious goals that reflect her determination and commitment to personal growth. Her sporting aspirations include running a sub-18-minute 5km at the Melbourne Marathon Festival and qualifying for the 3km B race at the prestigious Zatopek athletics event.

Despite not having played cricket for several years before joining SCSA, Elodie embraced the opportunity to return to the sport. Throughout her first semester, she improved significantly through her dedication, openness to feedback, and commitment to developing her skills. Her willingness to step outside her comfort zone and embrace new challenges reflects her resilience and determination.

Elodie’s leadership and contribution to others are equally impressive. During The Coach Project, she planned and delivered a series of practical, group-based sessions designed to help her team connect, develop their skills, and build tactical awareness. Through this experience, she demonstrated her ability to lead, communicate and create an environment where others feel supported and encouraged to improve.

Within SCSA, Elodie demonstrates excellent initiative, recognising when others need assistance and willingly stepping in to help. She has also volunteered her time at College Information Nights, representing the school and helping prospective students and families learn more about the opportunities available at SCSA. Whether supporting a classmate, assisting staff or representing the College at community events, Elodie approaches every opportunity with kindness, reliability and a genuine desire to make a positive contribution.

Looking ahead, Elodie has set her sights on a future with the Australian Defence Force. Her aspirations reflect her strong sense of purpose, willingness to challenge herself and desire to pursue a career that combines leadership, teamwork and service to others.

Reflecting on Elodie’s contribution, her mentor, Bailey Capel, describes her as a driven and well-rounded student who consistently demonstrates initiative, integrity, and a genuine willingness to help others.

Elodie truly embodies the values we strive to develop in every Sports College student. Her ability to balance a commitment to learning, sporting pursuits, leadership and community contribution is inspiring, and we are incredibly proud to have her as part of our school community.

Congratulations, Elodie. Your determination, kindness and willingness to embrace every opportunity make you an outstanding role model, and we can’t wait to see what you achieve next.
